When a Student is Sick
A Student should Stay Home if:
- There is fever of 100 degrees or more
- A history of a fever in the last 24 hours
- There is nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea
- It is a young child having trouble managing respiratory secretions
- Red, itchy, draining eyes
Check with a Doctor if student has:
- Sore throat, accompanied by headache, fever, rash, and/or stomach ache
- Sore throat that does not improve after a few days, or with difficulty eating or swallowing
- Fever that is very high (102 degrees or more) or fever that last more than 48 hours
- Prolonged vomiting or diarrhea
- Red, itchy, draining eyes that are not due to allergies
It's Safe to Return to School if:
- No fever for 24 hours without taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- No vomiting in last 12 hours
- Health practitioner states that student is no longer contagious
- Student is able to maintain concenctration and manage in the school building for a whole school day
