Johnson PTO
We welcome new and returning families and are delighted to have you at Johnson where we strive to uphold our school motto: “We are Family.”
Our Mission:
- promotion of the success of all our students so that they may thrive
- encourage family involvement
- increase communication between families and Johnson school staff
- support the Johnson staff in its many roles
In so doing, the PTO hopes to promote a robust and active school community and to foster the development of every child at Johnson.
Meetings
Meetings are held at Johnson the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Meetings present an opportunity for families to provide input, receive updates from the Principal, learn about special programs or initiatives in the school and otherwise engage in community. Childcare is provided.
Events
Coffee with the Principal, Back-to-School Night, Fall Carnival, Family-friendly dinners, African American Heritage Celebration, Bingo Night, Silent Auction, Spring Picnic, Field Day...PTO sponsors or contributes to each of these traditional Johnson events as well as embracing new event ideas.
Fundraising
Our annual Silent Auction/Bingo Night generates the largest portion of our funds.
Have you seen these before? Box Tops Education Labels are gratefully received in ziplock baggies. Please cut, seal, and send in to homeroom teachers. Reward card programs with Food Lion, Harris Teeter , Giant and Target also contribute a sizeable amount. With no cost to you and the same discount rewards, you can benefit the school! Sale of the "Attractions Guide," packed full of generous coupons to a wide variety of area establishments brings considerable revenue to the PTO.
Communication
Information, including upcoming meeting announcements and agenda items, is home in each child’s communication folder and PTO meetings and event dates are listed on the Johnson calendar. Look for PTO updates and highlights in the Johnson School Newsletter. You may sign up to receive e-mail by emailing ptojohnson@gmail.com .
Volunteering
Volunteering even once is an important contribution. You might offer to read to a class or ask to assist a teacher with supplies or with activities. You may help build the Johnson school garden, dish up nutritious food with the PB&J fund, or send in food for teachers' PTO Sunshine Committee treats. We welcome your gifts of time!
